Tyler-Our new family member:Jimmy!

BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER! Two weeks ago was my birthday, and a present I got from my mom and dad was a box, which contained everything you would need to make a Muppet. A professional one, like a puppet that Jim Henson would make.

This is Jimmy. I'm controlling him in all these pictures, and its hard to operate two sticks,(that are connected to the arms) with one hand.( My other hand would be in the head making him talk.)  I was wearing him my whole birthday party with family, that's why he was wearing a mustache. Everyone was. It was actually 3 people's party; Me, my mom, and Jimmy. I made Jimmy on my birthday, so that counts, right?

It was hard for Jimmy to wait till cake time.

I even let him help blow out the candles.

That's him. Starting out from a piece of foam, to a pillow, to a friend.

My Photography + My Brothers' Imagination = This Blog By Spencer

After school a few days ago, my bros and I decided to do a photo shoot. Tyler through Levi would dress up in costumes and I would snap some sweet shots. Alliteration :). Anyhoo, It had just rained so it was perfect lighting, everyone was psyched, and a perfect way to procrastinate on homework was handed to me on a silver platter.

Levi was first with his Captain America/Batman/Barbarian/Pro Soccer Player hybrid.
Let me mention once again that they thought of these costumes, not me.

Epic battle.

Dallin was a medieval hero, I think. Whatever he was, I liked it.

Running into battle.

Throughout the photo shoot, Chloe was our moral support.
She would clap, cheer, etc. All the while eating an otter pop.

Jumping into battle.
Just to prove how manly he was, Dallin landed these with bare feet.

Sneaking through the woods. (A.k.a rose bush.)

Dallin then decided to change costume, and became a neon Gangster. It was quite terrifying.

Need I say more.

Here comes the comic relief of this family and blog.
Tyler loves to get into character, so this was right down his alley.

An alien, Brennan, abducting the farmer, Tyler.

We had to do this at several dramatic angles.

Tyler getting into character, there will be even better yet to come.

Brennan's alien suit.

And now to finish the blog off, Tyler's depiction of the old west.

If you look closely, you can see the dirt he shoveled in the air.

Another day tending to the 'ol farm.

Everyone knows that farmers sing as they work.

 Ride 'em Bronco!

 A thrilling gallop.

Tyler the frontiersman, going where no man has gone before.

After a long day on the mountain, he takes a break to stare into the sunset.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. It started to rain, so I had to run inside before the camera got wet. A perfect end to a perfect day. Time for homework.

Monsters-Tyler

I LOVE drawing monsters. Why? Because they are extremely easy. They don't have to look like anything in particular.

The picture above is Boongle. I like to name all my monsters.

The Scorious lives in the desert, whereas Boongle lives in the jungle.

Not all monsters have to be dangerous or scary. They can be kind and, well, handy!

There's many different  kinds.
Some are just weird.
So remember, even a 3 year old can draw a masterpiece - a monster.

Mustaches, the Final Frontier

Art by Tyler, the cool one
Poem by Spencer, the other one

                    Oh sir, pardon me,
                                         But there is a question
            That I must ask.
                             On top of your chin
  Is a big smiley grin,
                           But why, above that,
         A mustache?

It gets in your food,
And to tell you the truth,
You could stuff all your lunch
                       In that big hairy hunch
And what's sad is I see
                                    That you already did.

  You may be wondering
               Why you're still a bachelor
 But that is because
                               Every time you kiss,
            You scratch her :<(

'Cause everyone knows,
                               Some hair to the nose
         Sends shivers of  "gross!"
From the head to the toes.

           Perhaps it's a statement,
                        Despite disengagement,
                My hairy 'ol friend, or,
You're just trying to start a new trend.

Dallin: The first day of school

A month ago was the first day of school and we all had a great time. Every year we take a school picture on the first day of school. Here is this year's picture. We all  turned out with amazing schedules and teachers! It was pretty big for Tyler, considering it was his first day of middle school! It was also exciting for everyone else. For instance Levi was going into his second year of preschool, Brennan was going from kindergarten into 1st grade, I was going from a 3rd and 4th combo into 4th grade, Tyler was going into middle school after a good year of 5th grade, and Spencer was going into 8th grade after a good portion of 7th! I have a great teacher this year, her name is Mrs. Scieffele. It's only been a month but my class has already: went on a field trip, visited the school garden about three times (the last time I had a pizza party,) and instead of reading open court hard back books we're  reading a new book called California Treasures (the 4th graders in my school and the 4th graders in another school are the first ones to ever use it!)

Banana Slugs! - Spencer

       Ok, It's official.
We love (emphasis on love) Banana slugs.
Seriously, these guys are the perfect combo of slime, yellow, banana, and swag all packed into a 1 in. to 10 in. bundle of Awesome tree saving slug.
We went camping last week, mom's got dibs on that blog, so we settled with one about our new favorite animals. Apparently banana slugs live in redwood forests and they are essential for redwoods to live by eating bugs and bacteria and secreting a slime that then hardens and seals around the tree. Our campsite just happened to be 20 miles south from the Oregon border, smack-dab in the middle of redwood country.
 Sweet.

I think these mollusks are nocturnal because each morning they were everywhere. I almost stepped on the one in the rocks. It was in the middle of the road. Good thing I noticed, maybe that's why they're yellow!

Now, a tribute to all the banana slugs, 'cause they're just that boss!

Oh yeah, and they can have spots too!
