Monsters-Tyler

I LOVE drawing monsters. Why? Because they are extremely easy. They don't have to look like anything in particular.

The picture above is Boongle. I like to name all my monsters.

The Scorious lives in the desert, whereas Boongle lives in the jungle.

Not all monsters have to be dangerous or scary. They can be kind and, well, handy!

There's many different  kinds.
Some are just weird.
So remember, even a 3 year old can draw a masterpiece - a monster.

Mustaches, the Final Frontier

Art by Tyler, the cool one
Poem by Spencer, the other one

                    Oh sir, pardon me,
                                         But there is a question
            That I must ask.
                             On top of your chin
  Is a big smiley grin,
                           But why, above that,
         A mustache?

It gets in your food,
And to tell you the truth,
You could stuff all your lunch
                       In that big hairy hunch
And what's sad is I see
                                    That you already did.

  You may be wondering
               Why you're still a bachelor
 But that is because
                               Every time you kiss,
            You scratch her :<(

'Cause everyone knows,
                               Some hair to the nose
         Sends shivers of  "gross!"
From the head to the toes.

           Perhaps it's a statement,
                        Despite disengagement,
                My hairy 'ol friend, or,
You're just trying to start a new trend.

Dallin: The first day of school

A month ago was the first day of school and we all had a great time. Every year we take a school picture on the first day of school. Here is this year's picture. We all  turned out with amazing schedules and teachers! It was pretty big for Tyler, considering it was his first day of middle school! It was also exciting for everyone else. For instance Levi was going into his second year of preschool, Brennan was going from kindergarten into 1st grade, I was going from a 3rd and 4th combo into 4th grade, Tyler was going into middle school after a good year of 5th grade, and Spencer was going into 8th grade after a good portion of 7th! I have a great teacher this year, her name is Mrs. Scieffele. It's only been a month but my class has already: went on a field trip, visited the school garden about three times (the last time I had a pizza party,) and instead of reading open court hard back books we're  reading a new book called California Treasures (the 4th graders in my school and the 4th graders in another school are the first ones to ever use it!)

I hope you enjoy this Pivot video I made. I call it Magic Guy. -Tyler

Banana Slugs! - Spencer

       Ok, It's official.
We love (emphasis on love) Banana slugs.
Seriously, these guys are the perfect combo of slime, yellow, banana, and swag all packed into a 1 in. to 10 in. bundle of Awesome tree saving slug.
We went camping last week, mom's got dibs on that blog, so we settled with one about our new favorite animals. Apparently banana slugs live in redwood forests and they are essential for redwoods to live by eating bugs and bacteria and secreting a slime that then hardens and seals around the tree. Our campsite just happened to be 20 miles south from the Oregon border, smack-dab in the middle of redwood country.
 Sweet.

I think these mollusks are nocturnal because each morning they were everywhere. I almost stepped on the one in the rocks. It was in the middle of the road. Good thing I noticed, maybe that's why they're yellow!

Now, a tribute to all the banana slugs, 'cause they're just that boss!

Oh yeah, and they can have spots too!

Geocaching - Spencer

During scout camp, (about that later) I got the Geocaching merit badge, and now I'm hooked. For those who don't know what Geocaching is, it's an international treasure hunting game anyone can do with a smartphone or GPS. You go on the Geocaching website and type down your zip code, and it shows the location, coordinates, and description of hundreds of caches nearby. The GPS only takes you to a 5-50 ft. destination, so you have to find the cache yourself.

Extreme geocaching “Triglav 2864″ (GC14N3H)
These things are anywhere and everywhere, making Geocaching a great thing to do on any vacation.

Oh yeah, and anyone can set up a Geocache; you can even buy or make fancy ones that are camouflaged with their environment!

It's funny how many people don't know about this game, even though it's right under their noses.

Although most of the fun of this game is adventuring and finding, once you find a cache, there is a logbook and some trinkets; you can take a trinket and put in one of equal or greater value. Then write your name, the date, what you took, and what you put back in.
Now get up, turn off the computer, and start treasure hunting!

Comics

Hi, this is Tyler. I don't know if you know, but I love drawing! I also like to make comics, and draw pictures from comics. I think the easiest person to make comics of is Chloe. Her little ponytail on top of her head makes her look like Agnes from Despicable Me.

Then a little later, I used it as a plant.(at the end it says: When the Chloeasaurus came.)

My favorite comic to free-hand draw is Calvin and Hobbes. (I usually draw Calvin and Moe.)

I just try to be creative.

Dallin's Birthday

Hi my name is Dallin, and  that epic guy holding that baby is my dad. Also believe it or not that baby is me!!!!!!!! Oh wait you don't know why I'm mentioning this well... it's my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had an awesome breakfast of German pancakes made by my mom (recipe at the end).

The theme for it is watermelon, watermelon cake, tablecloth, streamers, even the left over rinds as fruit bowls!

I even went with all of my friends to the water park and had a blast!!! I got awesome birthday presents that all fit me very well. Now it's the next day and I love the day after my birthday because it's the day I get to try out all my new presents.

The same day a little after dinner I went to the SLO hockey league to watch Spencer play hockey. Andrew Tyler and I climbed a tree. It was funny what happened in the process! This is what happened, Andrew helped Tyler and me up, but that meant he couldn't go up. Tyler found a cool way down so he and I tried it out so... when we went down that meant Andrew could get up because Tyler and I were out of the way but...That meant Tyler and I couldn't get up so I went on Tyler's shoulders, got up, and helped Tyler up!
The next day one of my presents came in handy! It was a card to pay for a movie at the movie theater. I watched Turbo, and well that's the end.

p.s. here's the recipe to German pancakes that I promised:
4 tablespoons butter
4 large eggs
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Melt butter in 9x13 pan in oven.
Beat eggs in bowl with wire whisk. Beat in remaining ingredients. Pour into 9x13 pan.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until puffy and golden brown. While it is baking, make magic sauce.

Magic Sauce
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda

Melt butter in large saucepan. Add sugar and milk and cook until sugar is dissolved. Add vanilla and baking soda on medium heat. It will rise and become frothy. Serve over German Pancakes.

You've heard our mom, now here's our story.

We are tiny but mighty! My name is Dallin, I'm the one next to the dude on the very right:), and I like watermelon!!!
Hi, my name is Tyler, I am the one on the very left, I am second oldest(Dallin is third oldest), I LOVE pickles!
Hi I'm Brennan, I'm 4th oldest, and second from the left. By the way, I crave tapitio corn ( recipe at the end).
Levi here! I'm three, the 5th oldest, and last one on the right. I like my pillow pet and D,that's my blanket, and my favorite food is any candy I can get my hands on.
Spencer's turn! Now the party has started! I'm thirteen, the oldest one, and that's me in the center holding Chloe. There seems to be a food theme here so my favorite is sea food.
Hey, this is Chloe! since I can't really talk or type yet, Spencer will be my spokesman. That's me in the center, you know, the cherry on top, and I'm being held by a truly epic older brother. I like to pull all the books off the bookshelf then stand back and smile as my older brothers clean it up. my favorite food is anything on a silver platter or from the kitchen floor. Except for most veggies. Those stink.

Tapitio Corn

  • Pop some popcorn.
  • soak it in hot sauce. ( preferably tapitio hot sauce).
  • enjoy!
